Day 7: Do A Lil Something Extra To Boost Your Immune System

If we’re anything alike, you’re doing the most trying to boost your immune system and stay healthy. A few of my daily rituals include adding a little Apple Cider Vinegar to my morning cup of Herbal Tea to kill viruses and bacteria and also eating more citrus fruits to boost my Vitamin C Level. Be sure to check out my website for all your Herbal Tea needs.

While scrolling through Instagram I came across a recipe for a mixture called Fire Cider and I am definitely curious to give it a try.

From what I’ve read, Fire Cider has many health benefits, with the two most common being boosting your immune system and fighting cold and flu. The instructions say to take 1 tablespoon daily to prevent illness and 1 tablespoon 3 times a day if you are not well.

I’ve included a recipe below so that you can try it. I’ve also included a link for you to read more about Fire Cider and all of it’s amazing benefits.

Your second challenge of the day is to find additional ways to boost your immune system.

Peace.

Ingredients:

  1. 1  horseradish root
  2. 1 ginger root
  3. 1  onion
  4. 1 garlic head
  5. 1 turmeric root or 1 tablespoon of ground turmeric
  6. 2-4 habanero peppers
  7. Apple cider vinegar
  8. Honey (added after the fermentation process is done and fire cider is strained to balance the spicy taste)

Instructions:

  • I usually start by grating ginger and horseradish roots and chop garlic, onions, and hot peppers and place them in  a tight lid jar.
  • It’s recommended to do the grating and chopping in a well-ventilated area if you can’t tolerate the strong smell and fumes, especially when you are grating horseradish root and onion
  • Add apple cider vinegar to the jar and make sure everything is submerged and shake well.
  • Screw the lid tightly in place
  • Place the jar in a dark, cool place and let it sit for 2-4 weeks and don’t forget to shake it every day.
  • After 2-4 weeks strain the fire cider and transfer the liquid part into a  tight lid container and discard the herbs and veggies.
  • Remember to keep the lid tightly sealed when you are not consuming it, so it stays fresh potent for longer
  • Store fire cider in the fridge at all times. Fire cider has long shelf life and can stay good for up to 1 year.

The Importance of Sincerity

When’s the last time you had a tough conversation? One of those gut wrenching discussions where you had to be the bearer of bad news. A conversation where you knew that you were about to deliver news that could rock someone’s foundation and be detrimental to their wellbeing.

I’ll never forget the day I told my ex that I wanted a divorce. It was tough to figure out how to say those words because I had never been an advocate for divorce before.

What I realized when delivering the news to him was that I needed to be direct in my approach, clear with my words and my energy needed to be sincere. It was important to me to reaffirm the work that we had put into trying to save our marriage but I was also sure to acknowledge the reality that things just weren’t working out.

Are you may facing a tough conversation? Are you unsure about what your approach should be?

My advice to you is to speak from your heart, say what’s on your mind and sprinkle in a little sincerity and grace.

Delivery is key.

PeaceMode,

Melissa

Today’s tip: Do Your Best & Trust in God
No matter how good your intentions are, you only have a limited amount of power. Your influence and abilities are limited. You can only love so much, help so much and do so much.
The great thing about all of this is that God only requires a little from us. He never puts more on us than we can bear so what we have, we need to give.
After we’ve done all that we can do there’s this special formula called Grace that God extends to those who love him. Grace to face ever day challenges, Grace to love those who seem unlovable and Grace to help us along our journey.
“If it had not been for the Grace of God, where o where would I Be.”
My name is Melissa Rivers and I am a Peace Empowerment Coach. I didn’t choose this life, God gifted it to me. Through various challenges, setbacks and bad decisions, God showed me how to Find Peace and Be Well. Today I extend that offer to you. If you are at a point in your life where you’re ready to actively pursue peace, allow me to help you.

Tip #12 Re-evaluate Your Circle

Happy Saturday! I hope all is well for you. I want to start off by congratulating you for hanging with me this far. I get so excited when I receive your emails about how the information is making a difference in your life! I’m glad to be of service to you and I’m thankful that God has a relevant message for me to share! With that being said, we are 12 days in to our #loveme2Peace campaign. If you can’t tell by now, there are endless ways to incorporate self-love and self-care into your daily routine. All it takes is a little intention.

So what are your plans for this weekend? I planned to have a huge garage sale but I’m not quite ready. I still have several closets to clean out so I’ll save that for a later date. For the past several weeks I’ve been enrolled in a Financial Peace class by Dave Ramsey. I’ve taken the class before but the information is awesome and the group that I’m involved with is really great. I haven’t been able to attend the group session in about a month due to other obligations but today I’m looking forward to connecting with like-minded individuals and generating some interesting conversations. With that being said, today’s tip is:

“Re-evaluate Your Circle”

How strong is your circle of supporters? Do your friends have your best interests at heart? Do they challenge you to be better? Do they stretch your thinking? Are they there for you during tough times? Do they include you?

All of these are great questions to consider when thinking about your friends. True friendships are a way to maintain Peace and balance in our lives. There’s nothing more rewarding than having friends that you can count on and trust to show up when needed and allow you to share in their lives. I will never forget the love that my small group of friends demonstrated as I was recovering from breast cancer surgery. As soon as I hit the recovery room in my dazed and confused state the flowers, cards, visits, texts, calls and chicken noodle soup kept rolling in. It was awesome to witness.

So what does your friend circle look like? Take an inventory, determine if it’s working for you and if not, adjust as necessary!

Tip #11 Let Go of the Extra Baggage

It’s Friday Peace Makers! This week has surely rolled by fast. Once again the weekend is upon us and we are in Day 11 of our #loveme2Peace Campaign. You have a few days to unwind and take it easy.

In my area, the weather is going to be nice with above average temperatures. This is the perfect opportunity to get outside, take a walk and just breathe. I plan to have a garage sale. My baby Mansion is officially starting to feel like a one room Condo. My stuff has stuff and it’s a lot to deal with it.

Many times in life we begin to accumulate things without keeping an accurate inventory list. I’m not referring to only material things, physical and emotional things come into play as well. Have you found yourself picking up extra weight over the past few years or maybe even picking up the judgments and opinions that others have about you? It’s not uncommon to allow these things to take up space in your life. So here’s today’s tip is:

“Let Go of the Extra Baggage.”

When you’re packing for a trip it’s always good to pack what you need and a little more just in case of emergency. But when your little more turns into additional carry-ons and totes, you’re going to have trouble lugging all of that around with you. The same is true for our personal lives. If we’re carrying around hurt and shame from things that we’ve dealt with in the past, we can’t successful navigate through life. Sometimes you just have to let go and trust that things will be better on the other side of your pain. My challenge to you today is to find 2 items that you haven’t used in a very long time. Donate them to a local charity, re-gift them to someone who needs an “It’s Friday” gift or put them on E-bay and make some extra cash. After you done this send me an email (sugawellnessboutique@gmail.com) and let me know how it felt.

In your quest to let go, I have the perfect scripture to help support you in releasing those physical and emotional weights. “Turn your burdens over to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will never let the righteous person stumble.”  This particular wording comes from the God’s Word Translation of the Bible.

Tip #4 Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For Help

Good Morning Peace Seekers and Happy Friday!

We are rolling right along into Day 4 of our #loveme2Peace campaign. Thank you to everyone that has commented or liked the posts so far. I greatly appreciate your support of this blog. My goal is to provide you with relevant tips and advice to help you in your journey of self- love and self-care.

So yesterday I did something totally out of character for me.

I asked for help.

My schedule was packed, my mind was on overload and my body was exhausted. I picked up the phone, called a friend and I asked for help. This may sound simple to you but for me, this is HUGE!

Every morning I make a list, I check it twice and I keep checking it until everything has been completed. In my mind, lists help me stay focused and on task. My only problem is that I tend to overdo it. I don’t heed the warnings of mental exhaustion and broken concentration. I keep going. For me to phone a friend and ask for help was awesome and a bit liberating.

I’m learning that I don’t have to be all and do all to be successful. Life is not a race; it’s a journey that is meant to be enjoyed and shared with those who care about you. With that said, my tip for today is:

Tip #4 Don’t Be Afraid To Ask For Help

There is peace, love and support in asking for help. When you allow others to support you in your journey, you’re not only helping yourself, you’re helping them as well. While you’re learning to give up control and collaborate, they are learning the power of being a friend and supporter. We learn to nurture one another by actually doing it!  As we enter into the weekend, find time to ask someone for help. Keep it simple, we don’t want to stress anyone out.

It’s astonishing how many people are willing to support you if they are given the opportunity.

Support and Encouragement Quote

In this moment I would like to thank the following female small business owners for supporting SUGA Wellness Boutique. Tonya M. Cross of Accented Glory and The Vine Event Planning. Keisha Roberts of Keisha Roberts Ministries and Erica Allen of Executive Healthcare. These ladies are doing phenomenal things in their business and they’ve been a great support to me.

Your homework for this weekend is to ask for help.

Managing Holiday Stress

The Holidays can be a stressful time for many people. The gift obligations, family traditions and financial burden of misguided expectations can wreak havoc on a person’s psyche and budget. If you’re like most of the general population, you haven’t set aside funds for Christmas shopping. The daily responsibilities of life and monthly obligations of mortgage, utilities, groceries and car payments have eaten up most if not all of your available funds.

At some point in time we all have to come to terms with “our” reality. What works for our friends and family may not work the same for us. If we consider the true meaning of Christmas, we can avoid a great deal of stress and overdraft fees! What better time than now to get intentional about managing the financial stress and family traditions of the holidays.

My greatest advice to help you along your journey is to make new traditions and create new memories. One way to avoid excessive spending is to practice the 4 Gift Giving Challenge. 1. Something they want. 2. Something they need. 3. Something to wear and 4. Something to read. You can find out more at: http://moneysavingsisters.com/4-gift-christmas-challenge-want-need-wear-read/

Some other holiday stress triggers include: unhappy memories and past heartbreaks. To this I say create new memories and focus on the love of those that are present with you. Some local inexpensive activities include local holiday parades and Christmas Tree lighting events. You can also check out holiday social gatherings being offered through your county.

Hopefully these tips will give you alternatives to consider in your quest for stress management!

Peace and Wellness

Focus On Truth

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 NKJV

Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder is a true and real mood disorder associated with depression and related to the seasonal variations in light that occur during the winter months. For many people, mainly women, this time of year can be filled with anxiety, mood changes, overeating and lethargy, just to name a few. Some of the suggested treatments include medication, outdoor activity or phototherapy.

Along with treatment, it’s important for us to practice spiritual remedies as well. We have to utilize the powerful weapons of warfare that are made available to every believer who has accepted Jesus as Lord over their life. When we are feeling out of sorts and in a state of depression we have to affirm, meditate and visualize a strategy of success. By focusing inward with peaceful thoughts about ourselves and our importance in society, we develop a stronger connection to God and a greater dependence on the healing effects of love.

Our strategy must include the truth about us that can only be found in God’s word.

  1. John 3:16-For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.-Remember that God will not withhold any good thing from you. His mind is set on loving you and gifting you with everlasting life.
  2. Isaiah 54:17- No weapon formed against you shall prosper. And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.-God already knows every issue and challenge that you will face. Even though things may look bad at the moment, God has other plans for you and you come out victorious!
  3. Jude 24-Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy-You will stumble and make mistakes along your journey but God has already planned to restore you. It makes Him happy to see you doing good. It pleases God to see you shine!

Mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you!
