Peace Seekers! Please forgive me for my absence. I know it’s been several grueling weeks since my last post but things have been a little discombobulated on my end.
As we transition into the Fall Season, I am hopeful that things will begin to settle down so that I can post more frequently and also begin to plan for 2017. At any rate, I hope all is well for you and please know that I truly value your support.
So I ran across an article on www.blavity.com entitled, “Am I Doing This Right, Do You Deflect Blame or Accept Responsibility?” I found this article to be absolutely necessary and appropriate for such a time as this, in my life. I am writing to you on the day that would have been my 6th wedding anniversary date. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your viewpoint) our union only lasted for 3 years. As I reflect on the title of the article and think about the events that lead up to my divorce, I’m relieved that I can take responsibility for my actions.
Fast forward to present day, some of the benefits that I’ve received from accepting responsibility for my actions include, personal growth and development, clarity of thoughts and actions, development of problem-solving abilities and enhancement of conflict resolution techniques.
I know that it can be difficult to recognize the lessons found in hardship but it is absolutely worth the effort.
The next time you find yourself feeling defensive or deflecting blame to others, take a moment, count to 10 and find the courage to grow!
